Damiano Cerrone is an urban planner, researcher, and visionary of future cities. He is the co-founder of SPIN Unita – a center for urban research and innovation, and UrbanistAI, a platform for participatory design and envisioning the future of cities. Cerrone’s mission is to transform cities into smarter, more resilient places, tailored to the needs of future generations, by creating spaces that address contemporary challenges.
As an advisor, he has been involved with Demos Helsinki, served as the lead researcher for TERREFORM UR, and has been a visiting professor at several institutions, including Chalmers University, the Beijing University of Technology, Nokia Bell Labs, and Sapienza University in Rome. He has been recognized as the ESRI Scholar of the Year and was a jury member for the European Capital of Innovation award.
Cerrone teaches at several academic institutions in Finland and abroad and has collaborated with numerous clients and partners, including the United Nations Development Program, the European Commission, the Prime Minister’s Office of the United Arab Emirates, the Council of European Architects, various ministries and municipalities in Nordic countries, and consulting firms in urban planning and state innovation such as Ernst & Young, FYMA, Akkadian, and Tunnel Euralpin Lyon Torino.
