Dan Špicer

Dan Špicer is the business director of the Croatian Scout Association, the largest organization for children and youth in Croatia. Upon assuming the position in June 2017, Spicer initiated a series of national and international projects with a focus on nature conservation and citizen engagement, primarily young people, in actions to preserve the environment and actively combat climate change. The most famous such campaign is Boranka – the largest volunteer reforestation action of Dalmatia’s burnt areas. In 2021, Špicer and a group of enthusiasts, marketing experts, and nature lovers launched the agency HEARTH, the first Croatian agency exclusively dedicated to designing and implementing non-profit projects in the field of corporate social responsibility.

HEARTH recently launched a new project – CO2MPENSATING BY PLANTING. This is the first Croatian carbon footprint neutralization program through tree planting. In 2 years, the project has gathered over 30 partners and involved more than 7,500 scouts, students, employees of partner companies, and other volunteers from across Croatia who participate in reforesting forest areas affected by climate change. So far, in 86 reforestation actions, they have planted more than 135,000 seedlings. Dan Špicer is the recipient of the Pride of Croatia award and is the first selected Croatian GREENLIDER.
