Douglas McMaster, icon of sustainability and creativity, founder of Silo restaurant; an initiator of change, a visionary who overturned the centuries-old gastronomic industry. His rich experience in renowned restaurants is the driving force for everything else that followed. McMaster tested the limits of conventional cuisine, paved the way for a revolutionary zero waste approach and became an icon of sustainability and creativity.

During his career, Douglas received numerous awards and recognitions; In 2014 he won ‘BBC Young Chef of the Year’ and then ‘Britain’s Most Innovative Chef’ at the first Young British Foodie Awards. Just two years after opening, Silo won the prestigious Observer Food Monthly award for ‘Britain’s Most Ethical Restaurant’.

In June 2018, Silo also won ‘Britain’s Most Innovative Restaurant’ at the Craft Guild of Chefs Awards. In 2019, Silo was shortlisted for the ‘World Restaurant Awards 2019’ award for innovation and ethical practice.
